This policy outlines shipping practices for our independent sellers and provides guidelines for eco-friendly packaging and delivery options.

Seller Responsibilities


Shipping Timeframes

  • Sellers must ship items within 3-5 business days of order confirmation
  • Processing times for custom or made-to-order items must be clearly stated in the product listing
  • Buyers should be notified of any unexpected delays within 24 hours

Eco-Friendly Packaging Requirements

  • All packaging materials must be recyclable or biodegradable
  • Prohibited materials include: 
    • Styrofoam peanuts or blocks
    • Plastic bubble wrap
    • Non-biodegradable packing peanuts
    • Single-use plastic mailers
  • Recommended materials include: 
    • Recycled paper and cardboard
    • Paper tape
    • Cornstarch packing peanuts
    • Recycled bubble wrap alternatives (paper padding, corrugated wrap)
    • Kraft paper mailers
    • Previously used boxes and packaging materials

Shipping Partners and Methods


Preferred Carriers

We encourage sellers to use the following eco-conscious shipping partners in Canada:

  • Canada Post (offering carbon-neutral delivery options)
  • Canpar (with their emissions reduction program)
  • UPS Carbon Neutral Shipping
  • FedEx (with their sustainable packaging program)

Shipping Methods

  1. Standard Shipping (5-10 business days) 
    • Most economical and eco-friendly option
    • Ground transportation prioritized over air freight
  2. Expedited Shipping (2-4 business days) 
    • Available when necessary
    • Higher environmental impact noted to buyers
  3. Local Pickup 
    • Encouraged when possible to reduce shipping emissions
    • Must be arranged directly between buyer and seller


Costs and Pricing


Setting Shipping Rates

  • Sellers must calculate and set their own shipping rates
  • Rates should reflect actual shipping costs plus eco-friendly packaging materials
  • Combined shipping discounts are encouraged for multiple items
  • Free shipping options are at the seller's discretion

International Shipping

  • Sellers may choose whether to offer international shipping
  • Additional customs forms and duties are the buyer's responsibility
  • Carbon offset costs for international shipping should be clearly communicated

Tracking and Insurance  


Order Tracking

  • Tracking numbers must be provided for all shipments over $20
  • Sellers must update order status within 24 hours of shipping
  • Buyers receive automated tracking notifications

Insurance

  • Optional insurance available for valuable items
  • Recommended for items over $100
  • Cost may be included in shipping price or added separately

Environmental Impact Tracking

  • Sellers are encouraged to use carriers that provide carbon footprint data
  • Carbon offset costs can be included in shipping fees (must be clearly stated)
  • Annual environmental impact reports will be provided to sellers

Eco-Shipping Badge Program

Sellers can earn eco-shipping badges by:

  • Using 100% recycled/biodegradable packaging
  • Maintaining a low carbon footprint per shipment
  • Offering local pickup options
  • Using carbon-neutral shipping services

 Returns and Exchanges


Return Shipping

  • Return shipping labels should use the same eco-friendly carriers
  • Buyers are encouraged to reuse original packaging for returns
  • Sellers must provide clear return shipping instructions

Environmental Considerations

  • Local returns/exchanges are encouraged when possible
  • Consolidated return shipments for multiple items
  • Digital return labels preferred over printed labels

Policy Updates


We reserve the right to update this shipping policy as new eco-friendly shipping options become available. Sellers will be notified 30 days before any significant policy changes take effect.
